Ukrainian acting Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has always bore a striking resemblance to Princess Leia in my mind.

Uncanny, isn’t it? Just for fun, someone should take the old A New Hope movie poster and photoshop the faces of the heroes of the Orange Revolution onto it.

Naturally, Yushchenko would be Skywalker. Who would the other characters like Han Solo, Obi-Wan, Chewie, and C3PO be?

Regarding that resemblance - it’s gotta be the hair, but it is striking. I don’t know enough about Yushchenko’s inner circle to provide the proper analogues to the Star Wars characters you mentioned, but what about Yoda - the behind-the-scenes old man with the true “force” - George Soros? And would Darth Vader be Yanukovych or Putin? This could be an interesting parlor game for regional specialist nerds…

Putin looks a little bit like Grand Moff Tarkin from “A New Hope” but if thats the case Vader becomes a bit more complicated.
And maybe Vaclav Havel or Mikhail Saakashvili could be Obi-wan. They dont look similar but they could still fill the role.

Lyndon - Yep, it’s definately the hair that created the Tymoshenko-Leia association for me. There’s also a tad of spunk in Yulia, I think, that reminds me of Leia.
