No time for a real post, so I’ll share a comic I recently laughed over.
I just rediscovered Konstantin Yavorskij’s Akimych and Vladimir Vladimirovich comic strip. It’s published weekly in Bolshoi Gorod magazine and they’ve even got an archive of the strip on their site. Here’s a recent one:

Sure.
First of all, the characters in the strip are Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin (president of Russia) and his (fictional) kooky adviser Akimych. Alla Borisovna (Pugachyova) is a famous Russian actress/singer and is now heavily involved with the reality TV show Fabrika Zvezd (Star Factory), a mix between Idol and Big Brother. Here’s how I would translate it:
VV: It’s sad, Akimych. . . My ratings are falling. What should I do?
A: There is one thing you can do! Alla Borisovna, I need you to hook up a guy for me. . . It’s all set: we’re going on Star Factory 5!
VV: What?
A: They lock you up with some girls for two months, and then they vote. . .
VV: Great. Just without that voting part.
VV + A sing a Russian pop song
The ‘no voting’ line is refering to some of Putin’s latest reforms.

Thanks!
You know that this actually happened over here in Portugal, for a guy similar to a city mayor? He went to a show similar to Big Brother. Very very sad
See you.
