Maybe I’m just a sucker for lame spy movies, but I really enjoyed the Bourne Identity when it came out a few years ago. That type of movie always revives my childhood fantasies of being an international secret agent.

Anyway, I just noticed that Quicktime.com posted the trailer for the Bourne Identity sequel, the Bourne Supremacy. It looks decent to me, at least in comparison to the rest of the movies coming out this summer which are probably pure hyped-up crap.

As I was watching the trailer two scenes in particular caught my eye. At about half way through there is a quick aerial shot of a police car crashing into another vehicle. On the hood of the car I noticed the Russian letters ‘???’ ???????-?????????? ??????). “Interesting,” I thought, “some of it must take place in Russia.” Then, a few seconds later, there was a scene of Jason Bourne walking down a street that looked incredibly familiar to me. I paused the clip, looked closely, and realized that the scene was filmed outside of Frunzenskaya metro station here in Moscow.

This is so Metro Frunzenskaya

Am I wrong? Look, you can even see the arch things above the windows of Mu-Mu restuarant.

The Bourne Supremacy comes out July 23rd in the States, but no release date has been set for Russia at this point. Can’t wait.

looks like Frunzenskaya (Mu-Mu) to me! But you could just go there and take a picture from that spot and see if it is really the place! :)

That is definitely Frunzenskaja. Pretty awesome.

Check it out. In the upper righthand corner, you can clearly see the entrance to McDonalds as well as a bottom portion of the golden arches.

I just found this page randomly while looking for a Moscow release date for the Bourne Supremacy in Moscow. Anyway, I live at Frunzenskaya and watched them film this for several hours in early Nov. 2003. In the scene, Damon pretends to be drunk and staggers over to a taxi stand (plunked down across from the Frunzenskaya metro for the sake of the movie). He’s approached by two militiamen, whom he beats up, then gets into the cab - probably speeds off, but I didn’t stick around for that. Another scene shows someone running into the supermarket to the right of moo-moo. Pretty interesting. I’ve got some fairly decent pictures of Damon on the set, but not sure how to post them here.

I actually saw this movie yesterday, and I was amazed that they had filmed outside Frunzenskaya. I went totally bananas in the movie theatre because my father used to live right next to the metro station. Fun fun!
