This ‘from here to there’ digital animation of the Mars rover is incredible! It amazes me that we’ve developed technology to launch this thing 35 million miles, land it on the surface of Mars, and then have it transmit images back to Earth. (via Jason Kottke’s remaindered links)

You’ll also want to see this Quicktime VR panorama of Mars that Spirit captured.

i think this is really cool, Tom. i think the real question though is how long before we live there?

Wes

Tom, what’s the name of that Finnish/Russian movie you were telling me about? I forgot…but I swear I’m going to order it if it’s reasonable just for language practice…does it have Finnish and Russian sound/subtitles?

Thanks!

Wes- The name of the movie is ??????? (Cuckoo). Here’s a link to its file in the IMDB:

Kukushka

The film is mostly in Russian, but also has a lot of Finnish. My DVD had the options to turn all of the audio to Russian (i.e, Russian was synchronized over the Finnish). It also had subtitles in Russian.

I got my DVD at Gorbushka, so I don’t know that it would be the same as one you would order online. There seems to be one with English subtitles out there too.

Also, you can buy it from RBCMP3.

Wes

Thanks Tom. I was planning on placing an order from rbcmp3.com. I’m going to do that tonight. Anyways, I’ll talk to you later.
